Depending which press release you read the new Phone 7 can do everything. It's described as a Business phone here: "Microsoft is delivering a great business phone that improves productivity by taking a fresh approach to the most common Smartphone business usage scenarios such as email, calendar, contacts and collaboration." Great, here's the good part.
It's got game! Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 initiative launches on November 8 in North America with the release of the $199 Samsung Focus. As part of the Windows Phone 7 platform, the phone will integrate Microsoft's Xbox LIVE, Microsoft Office Mobile, Zune, Windows Live and more.
Microsoft knows it has a loyal Xbox fan base and by integrating Xbox Live on the phone, gamers will check it out.
Games announced for the Phone 7's Game Hub are Tetris, Sims 3, Need For Speed Undercover and Monoply.
The games support Windows Phone 7's Xbox Live integration, "featuring the unique ability to track and share scores with leaderboards, unlock Xbox LIVE Achievements, add to your Gamerscore, and communicate with your Xbox LIVE friends across Xbox 360, Windows-based PC and Windows Phone 7."
This list is a bit slim, but it's a start. Noticeably missing are Scrabble and any EA Sports titles. Hopefully those will be coming early next year sometime.
