• News For Nintendo's 3DS

We had this story up 10 days ago but game world is just putting it out today so we're running it again. Nintendo's newest creation, the 3D hand held game console that doesn't need glasses hits the game world on March 27, 2011. The 3DS has been in the news all weekend for the warning Nintendo has put on the packaging.
"Difficulties with appreciating 3D in movies, TV and Nintendo's 3DS, or discomfort when engaging in these activities may be an important sign of undetected vision disorders. Accordingly, children younger than six can use the 3DS in 3D mode if their visual system is developing normally."

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has said that the packaging and documentation for the Nintendo 3DS will advise against allowing children under the age of six to use the 3DS with 3D visuals enabled for long periods of time. It seems that the system doesn't harm the eyesight of young children and the warning is a precaution against long term use.

Also in the news today is that the battery life for the 3DS is 5 hours of 3D gaming on one charge and that's with the screen brightness turned all the way down. With a recharge time of 3-5 hours gamers are spending almost as much time charging as they are playing.

If your playing a classic Nintendo game then the battery life will be longer. Increase the screen brightness and that drops again.

The 3D concept uses a lot of energy to create but with the DS lite holding a charge for 15-19 hours and the DSi lasting 14 hours, the 3DS needs some back up. Can you play it plugged in? I don't know yet, but it looks like the next gen 3DS is already needed.
