• Gears of War 3 Gets a Release Date...Finally

    Microsoft finally found a date that may give Gears 3 a big opening. After being pushed back from April, 2011 for business reasons, you can now set your pre-order for pick up on September 20, 2011. If you live in Japan, expect it on the 22nd. Lots of new stuff to check out as well.

    Microsoft issued the following 411 in a press release

    · An enthralling cinematic story that captivates players in an intimately intense action game
    · Five-on-five multiplayer experience as well as four player campaign co-op experience
    · New multiplayer game modes including ‘Beast Mode’ – offering a new twist to the game where you take on the role of the locust horde and their assorted variations!
    · New maps including: Trenches which features an impressive sand storm that reduces your visibility, as well as Overpass, Mercy, Checkout, and Thrashball
    · New weapons including: The Bayonet Charge, The Retro Lancer, The Sawed-off Shotgun, The OneShot – a heavy sniper rifle that shoots through shields or cover for a surprise one shot kill, The Incendiary Grenade, The Digger Launcher and a few subtle tweaks to old favourites Hammerburst and The Classic Lancer. Don’t forget that each weapon now has its own execution move!

    This date avoids other major releases around the same time, including the PS3 exclusive Uncharted 3 on the 8 November and Bethesda's Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which is due to hit shelves on the 11 November. (Can't forget that Arty)

      Nice...around the same time as Halo would normally be released....hopefully its better then that crap fest from Bungie....

      funny that the comments are about halo sucking and Arty's baby and not Gears of War. LOL
      What does that say about the game?

      I liked the single player part of Gears although I thought it may have as some games do these days went to far with the movie scenes. Sounds like they are adding more of that. I like playing the game not watching it. That said, I never really got into the multi player but there was this game called HALO which took up most of my gaming time back then. Possible this go round I may have free time to jump into this one.

      Looking forward to see what its all about.

      I like the 4 player co-op for the campaign...always a great part to a game and the multiplayer will be much on a much smaller scale (5v5)...which suits the gears style of gameplay.

      My comment was about the game....I mentioned the fact they are taking the traditional Halo release month...

      In the End the graphics will be top notch (considering Gears 2 is one of the best looking games on the 360) and it will be fun as hell.

      For me, the first Gears of War is up there with the best of this generation. The second really disappointed me with the campaign and the online, it felt like it didn't have that special thing that made the first game great, it became just another action game to me.

      I hope they come out with a great game, and end it in a way that will please the fans.

      I can't wait for the Beta...hopefully more people will pick up Bulletstorm so I have a few to play with.

      the first gears was not even close it being as great as the second one and i no the third one is going to blow away the first 2 i cant wait for the beta
