COD and BOPS

Hey everyone, I haven't written anything on my blog for a while as I have been busy with my squad so I thought I’d write some random thoughts on gaming.
I have been mainly playing BOPS (my new term for Black Ops) lately, well that's pretty much all I have been doing. I went through the entire 7th prestige in 3 days.. I have recently got back into search and destroy and wow is it addictive. I can't believe it has taken me until now to play it on BOPS; it's the mode I played most on all of the previous COD games. I like to think I’m fairly good but I have learned that I fail at sniping and I cannot use the Ballistic knife so I’m a bit of a tryhard just using Assault rifles.
I didn't manage to catch as much of MLG Dallas as I would have liked. I saw the first match between Final Boss and someone else who owned them and I watched one match of BOPS and that was it as I had a very busy weekend but I checked out all of the results.
I have bought or pre ordered only my third game this year. So far I have only bought Test Drive 2 for the 360 which I can't really get into and which I plan to trade in and Pokémon Black which I have nearly finished after 30 hours. My newest purchase is Portal 2.
As with all of the other big releases so far this year I was on the fence about buying it then one factor swayed it for me. The price is starting off a lot lower than virtually every new 360 game. Instead of the usual £40 it is being sold across all retailers at roughly £30. Now I know this game won't be incredibly long so I probably would have waited a while longer for the price to drop if it sold for the usual amount. But this just makes so much sense and I applaud Valve for this move.
How many new games stay at full price for very long? Only the best franchises can ask for full price for an extended period. Most other games drop harshly in price within a few weeks.
And I think developers/publishers need to see that if they want more sustained sales of a game at a certain price they should drop the opening price at release and then it can stay at that same price for quite a long time, enticing some gamers who otherwise may have just written a game off as a 'campaign rent' or bargain bin buy.
I know I have considered games like Dead Space 2, Homefront, Crysis 2 and Bulletstorm as 'campaign rentals' or I may pick them up when they are cheaper, because they aren't worth £40 in my eyes especially when I know the multiplayer elements of these games will be dead in a few months (well maybe not Crysis) and I will be back playing COD in no time.
Anyway that's enough for now; I don't want this to be a George length post
Ryan.
