Had to Do It - A Review of The Deadliest Warrior

Okay well I always say encourage others to blog, but I hate blogging myself go figure a hypocrite as one of your leaders hahaha....well this blog is not about that..... I figured that I shouldn't make anyone certifiable with my ramblings on that topic, but instead I thought i would show some gamers down a path to enlightenment.....decapated, bloody enlightenment.

Anyways, I had some extra points that were living in my account ans saw The Deadliest Warrior game on the dashboard for 800 points. I'm not a regular watcher of the show, so I watched the game trailer and kinda got a little curious.....800 points worth of curious.

Here is the game trailer thats shows a bunch of gameplay without ruining the enjoyment.

Anyways, I like it and am rapidly becoming addicted to it....I'm sure it will wear off like so many other arcade games I've downloaded (Vigilante 8, Uno, Peggle to name a few), but long after I get my 10 bucks worth of brutal pleasure. Yes still talking about the game here.

I don't want to ruin anything for you so I won't really go in to much detail, but there is a couple of avatar items you unlock, and there are the arcade standard of 200 achievement points you can get (if thats your thing). With all that being said, the true joy comes from the shear amount of blood soaked beat down you can unleash. You can remove limbs, stick spears and arrows into people, decapitate for finishing moves, turn people into rhinos (you'll know it when you see it hahaha), and the pirate always feels the need to cheat (heartbeat sensor in a corner anyone?) and brings a gun to a knife fight.....dang pirates .

Each character has two primary weapons that you can switch too, and a ranged weapon as well. For example, the Apache has a knife, tomahawks, and a bow and arrow. Its the same for each character, two to beat stab and or bludgon and one to shoot or throw. Additionally, each one of the weapons and your armor can be upgraded by winning matches in the arcade mode.

Okay I only played offline in the arcade mode (there is a 2 player online option and a method to do tournaments as well), and played a couple of characters through so far, got a couple of achievements....including my new personal favorite....shishkabob....lets just say it involes someones head being stuck into a wall. And a fair warning the Deadliest difficulty setting is rough....keep it on the default until you get used to it. I set it to the most difficult setting, and had to back it back down and then took it back up once i got the controls down some. Like I said be forewarned.

It reminds me alot of some old school fighting games and for 800 points I think it is worth it. I'm not a huge fighting game person, so some of you may not like it, but The Deadliest Warrior has got me hooked for now and thats all I got to say.
