The Immortal Words of Sarcasm

Good morning and welcome back Crosseydgamer.com.

I go to bed and the last thing I see is our site in all its glory. I wake up and as I am making my way to a computer my phone rings, on the other side is this beautiful sweet voice that very calmly says, were expired.

I thought maybe god had sent an angel to tell me I was dead or something. But no, it was my partner and friend Crosseyedbunny. After a few WTF's. I proceeded to call our server techs to see what had happened.

I already knew but making sure they knew was what would fix it.

for those of you that understand how all this website domain server stuff works you will know that you buy a domain name with a registar company. You then host that domain on a server which houses all your files that produce your website. Sometimes these two are the same company sometimes they are not.

In the beginning we used two companies. We registered the domain crosseyedgamer.com on August 4, 2009. Yes, that was the official birth of the domain name. for all those idiots out there saying we had been doing this for 6 to 8 months , learn how to look shit up and stop being stupid.

That said, it was 8 days later when the system which runs our site vBulletin was purchased. Bunny stated that was officially CrosseyedGamer day and that is what we call our birthday.

Anyway, we knew the domain was ready to be renewed and went ahead and initiated that with our server company which meant probably a short period of downtime. Generally happens late at night and there is a page thrown up that says , site under construction or something like that.

Well, seems in the midst of transferring the domain over and renewing it a glitch hit our server techs and well, it didn't take place properly. Beings it didn't happen the original registar who has not clue what is going on but that we didn't pay them to renew so they assume the owner wants to just let is expire. That's what they did. Hence if you came to the site for a bout a 6 to 7 hour period you saw the Crosseyedgamer.com is expired page. Which by the way, did anyone notice the image of the woman as well as all the links to crosseyed stuff?? Almost looked like they were advertising us in a wierd way. Of course none of those links went to any part of our site which sucked.

So, in a made scramble I went back and forth between two companies. (thank god they are here in the states and have phone numbers you can call to speak to someone on).

They pointed their fingers and yada yada yada. In the end, the site gets back up and everything is as it is suppose to be.

Lesson learned, DO NOT TRUST ANYONE ELSE WITH YOUR DOMAINS LIFE.

Seriously, the site is down and all I want is to get it back up so bunny doesn't have a heart attack or worse turn into a rabid bunny and come bite me. Wait, without the rabbies thing I might actually want that. Wonder what you would get if you mixed a bunny with an evil fat immortal? Hmm....

Ok, sorry that was not on topic at all.
