Sony Applies For Degradable Demo Patent

Sony, the 3D, PS3 people have filed a patent for video game demos that degrade or disappear over time.

It looks like Game Viagra to me. You get the full game and then in 6 hours your sword is just about gone. Wow, that's just plain mean.

What the new patent will do is let you download the full version of the game on the PS3 or whatever Sony wants to use it on and you have that version for about 2 hours. As time goes by the game starts to disappear unless you buy the game and then you get the full version back for as long as you have the paid Playstation Network subscription. Sorry had to throw that in there. If you buy the game at full price and not a monthly download it's yours to keep.

What also happens is that instead of a 1GB download you need the 10-40GB of space to check out a game.

Remember this is just a patent application, it's not happening tomorrow so don't sweat it just yet.
