PC Gaming Clans

Rate this Entry
I dont exactly know where this idea came from but as everyone knows CEG has playstation clans and xbox clans. Meanwhile we leave a whole new source that has been tried before but may have a substantual number of possible new CEG Recruits. So my question is what do you guys think would be a ideal pc game to collect ppl to make a PC Clan for CEG. Please think it through and make sure you tell anyone and everyone to come to this blog and post whatever they think would be the best or most ideal game or games.

Well you have to look at the most popular PC games that involve some type of multiplayer...

    Crysis
    Counter Strike
    COD MW2
    and of coarse WOW

Now it makes most sense to strike with a new release...my thinking...Star Wars The Old Republic...

    Good thinking ahead their partyboi.

Here's the deal on making new clans on a different platform, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT DEDICATED LEADERS ON THAT PLATFORM and COMMUNICATION WITH THEM and THE OTHER LEADERS.

Not yelling at you there just want to make sure everyone reads and understands this.

When I was a general in XG I had 8 clans going on H2. Some of those gamers did play WOW. As I moved up to section leader I began to branch out and look at forming clans on other games and platforms. I created the first PC clan in XG and well, it failed big time. No leadership in that clan and no way to communicate with PC Gamers during the meetings. It was then that I have 17 total clans and I looked at some alternative for meetings. Problem was, XG was solely a XBOX LIVE CLAN Community. They can say they play on PS3 and PC but at the end of the day, they all get on XBOX to do their meetings and all other stuff. Recruiting and so forth.

One of the biggest differences from our social network and a clan community based on a single platform is how we go about communicating with each other. We have used alternative ways since day one. Chatrooms on the site both text and audio (http://tinychat.com/crosseyedgamer ) or Skype which allows conference calls. We do meetings on their every week as well as misc chat daily and the podcasts.

Like you, we are always thinking ahead and in time we will bring audio and video chat to our site. Just a matter of time to get everything place. Many may know we recently moved our entire site to a private massive server. Why ? You need such a thing to handle what we intend on adding to our site. :-) If you can think it, we probably have it planned out.

That starts with our own teamspeak channel. It's already there waiting to be used.
If anyone wishes to test it out - first go to teamspeak.com and download their client program. Most PC GAMERS already have this. and then connect to teamspeak.crosseyedgamer.com port 9987. It is public so no password is needed at this point in time. Once connected make sure you click on the tab at the bottom that says Crosseyed Chit Chat. You can use text or talk. At some point I will throw a link up on the site for this when I officially announce it's arrival. Then after you have the client program installed all you have to do is click the link and it will load for you.

Now back to the PC Clan thing. Doc is correct in picking a good game. Counter Strike is still pretty huge in PC Gaming world. Clans have been around forever in that game and others.

As for WOW, well, those people get on a server and just disappear. I lost about 10 or more people that were leaders (captains , generals and section leaders ) under me in XG to WOW. They grew tired of HALO and did not make the move to playing COD. They went to the PC. There is in fact probably still about 100 or so people playing WOW that I know who use to associate themselves with XG. No one ever followed up with them and over time they just went their own way. They ran things just like any other XG clan but never once posted a squad list on the website nor turned on an XBOX to do a meeting.

All this isn't rocket science but for some reason when talked about long ago in XG land it was like speaking Chinese as no one got it.

This is why I made sure we could afford interpreters in this crosseyed world we are building. :-)
