Living with a game hater!!!

Ok now I know I'm not the only one in CEG that has this issue because there is a group just for us special people. But here is the deal. Why do people have to have a issue with their significant other playing video games. Everyone has their own hobbie, well gaming is ours. So whats the big deal many of us have asked and now I am asking officially. Why is it a big deal that we choose gaming as a hobbie instead of running or reading....etc. Why is the such a reacuring occurence and what is the solution to all this?

    I actually got my gf interested in gaming so it's sort of the opposite for me, although she can get annoyed if i play too much but i can understand that.

    How to answer this...

    First of all gaming is a hobby in which most spend a significant about of time playing...which is time away from the other person. That person becomes jealous of this time and sees gaming as a force keeping you two apart. Yes I understand that you may more then enough time with that other person, but jealous people don't always think rationally.

    As to why is looked down on as a hobby...exercising, reading, collecting are all some way a forms self improvement or at least have the potential to make money while gaming does neither.

    In the end if it is a problem, come to a compromise...if she/he is unwilling to do so then you have a decision to make. DO you cut them loose, or do you bow down to what they want...
