This is a proposed improvement to the DMR's bloom in Reach. This system will highly discourage spamming the trigger in which makes bloom irrelevant.

Here's the MLG thread.

Here is the Bungie forums link.

As you can see from the video, wider bloom plus the smaller shot area makes it so that people that disregard optimal rate of fire, good aim, and bloom size don't get lucky kills. The purpose of bloom is to make people pace their shots, something that Bungie has pretty much done for us in previous Halos. Now that we have the responsibility to pace our shots in order to get skillful kills, people that bypass this should not be rewarded.

I have little to no hope that Bungie will take this into consideration or even bother looking at it but maybe if enough of their community supports it they'll be forced to look into it.

The way that it works is first by making the DMR's bloom expand farther than it does currently and the area that the bullets can hit follows the bloom and get's smaller as the bloom get's bigger. The bloom also contracts faster.

The way bloom works now is it expands a little bit, and the bullets can hit ANYWHERE, randomly inside the reticule. This makes it so that people pull off a really fast 5 shot kill with nothing but luck. They totally disregard bloom and optimal rate of fire and this proposed patch would make spamming a much, much less rewarding exploit.

yeah I kind of understand it on paper and surely get the logic but I generally am clueless with all these finer details in the games. I mean, bloom to me means something a flower does. lol!!

If it's something that can make the game more consistent and user friendly that good. I wouldn't want to think they have to change the game to suit just PRO players though.

I think part of the randomness helps others where it may hurt some. Is it fair ?

Who knows. In the end , Bungie shall giventh or taketh away.

The randomness helps people that don't play fair. And for any competitive type of game you want to reduce the randomness as much as possible. A tweak in the bloom would be for the benefit of everyone.
