NOTE: I originally wrote most of the information below back on Sept 2008. The basic rank structure and responsibilities were already being implemented by Xiled Gaming. As a Leader of that Clan Community I modified various things and added lots more detail to enhance both the responsibilities and requirements of each rank within the clan. It was than implemented into their community and has shown to work well when followed and the top leaders hold themselves and all other ranks accountable for what they are responsible for. From this day forward what is noted below will be the Rank Structure and Promotion Requirements for CEG Clans. Understand that each rank has specific responsibilities and YOU WILL be held accountable. Failure to maintain your responsibilities will result in a meeting with all clan leaders where you will be evaluated and possibly asked to change Ranks within the Clan Structure. Further noted, NO Promotion is just given for meeting the below mentioned time requirements. Those are a guideline and while exceptions may be given with merit, Promotions must be earned by fulfilling all the current ranks responsibilities and showing the willingness and the ability to take on more.
Members of CrossEyedGamer.com are not obligated to participate in Gaming Clans. Many may be on the site to enjoy the social networking we provide and those members are considered GAMERS. They DO NOT have to attend Clan Meetings and they also DO NOT have a say in Clan issues. The same can be said for Clan members when it comes to website and other crosseyedgamer.com matters.
Clan Rank Structure and Responsibilities and Promotion Requirements
RECRUIT
A new recruit is a gamer who has been invited to be part of a CEG Clan. All recruits should be asked to register on the crosseyedgamer.com website. A clan recruit should be invited daily to be part of clan activities as well as have the clans rules and regulations explained to them. Generally someone will remain a recruit until voted on by the clans members. If it is determined that the recruit will be asked to join the clan and he/she accepts they will be given the clan rank of Private.
PRIVATE
A private must register on crosseyedgamer.com and request membership in the clan group they are going to be a member in. This is a requirement of the recruiting and promotion process and failure to do so will void the acceptance into a CEG Clan. They will remain as a GAMER until this is done and should not be noted on the clans member list.
The responsibilities of a Private consist of learning the rules of CEG Clans as well as any specific rules within the clan they have joined. They must be active with their clan which includes participating on the website in their clans forums, clan practices, clan meetings and any other clan activities that are open to their rank level.
In order to be promoted, a Private must meet the responsibilities of their rank and have been the rank of private a min. of 10 to 14 days. The only time this can be shortened is by vote of the clan’s members. If at the end of the 14 days no decision of a promotion can be made, the time may be extended for an additional 7 to 14 days. If the private is not promoted after that time, they should be moved to Gamer and removed from the clan group on the website as well as the clan’s member list.
SERGEANT
A sergeant is someone that as meet all the responsibilities of a private and shown the willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty.
The responsibilities of a sergeant consist of meeting with recruits and privates in their clan and assist them with the process of registering on the website, joining their clans group, locating the clan’s forums and posting in those forums. Sergeants should maintain a list of recruits and privates that are following through with the process and bring that list forward to their squads LT.
In order to be promoted a Sergeant must meet all the responsibilities above and maintained those responsibilities for a consecutive 2 to 3 weeks. They must show that they want to be part of the clan’s growth as well as its success. Any sergeant not promoted in the 2 to 3 week time period must be evaluated and either given an extension of time to improve or moved to Gamer status.
LIEUTENANT
A Lieutenant is a clan members that has shown and outstanding record at the lower ranks and continues to be an important part of the growth and success of the clan.
The responsibilities of a LT are to be a leader of the lower ranking members. They need to report any activities of those members directly to their captain. All issues should be discussed with their captain and handle accordingly as possible.
You will be responsible for assisting the captain in setting up meetings and practices, training lower ranking members, and running practices and meetings when a Captain is not a present. You will also need to post in the clan’s forum any news and information that needs to passed down to the clan if the captain is unable to do so.
In order to be promoted a LT must hold their rank for a consecutive 21 to 30 days as well as have trained a replacement and learned the responsibilities of a captain. Furthermore they must be showing they can handle the responsibilities of the rank of captain by doing some of the captains work. LT’s should only be promoted based on the needs of the squad/clan. If their Captain is not being promoted ahead of them then it is possible the LT should remain as LT unless meeting all other requirements and the clan needs a captain in another squad. This is rare and generally should not be done.
CAPTAIN
A captain is someone that has mastered all the responsibilities of the lower ranks and is an example to all clan members. A caption must be a leader, know and understand the clan rank structure and responsibilities, be able to make sound decision and be dedicated to the growth and success of their clan.
The primary responsibility of a captain is to assure the success and growth of their squad. This consists of training the members of their squad by teaching them their responsibilities, preparing their squad members for a promotion, maintain an accurate member list for their squad on the clans forums, running weekly squad meetings and scheduling and participating in various activities. Those activities should consist of clan practices, clan matches, clan game nights and other events for their squads members to promote an enjoyable gaming experience.
A Caption is also responsible for posting all squad activities on their clans forums. This includes news, meeting and activities times as well as their member list.
Along with posting they are required to send messages to their squad members via their friends list, private messages or whatever other form of communication they opt to utilize. Example: instant message programs, email, xfire, etc..
As a Captain you are the leader of your squad and should handle most squad related issues be working with your LT and other captains within your clan. You still report any and all issues whether handled or not to your General. You will work with your General to resolve those issues you have not been able to take care of. You DO NOT take minor squad or clan related issues to higher ranking clan leaders.
In order to become eligible for a promotion a Captain must be excelling in all their responsibilities. They must also be working daily with their clans captains and the clan General to promote an enjoyable gaming experience for all members. A min. of 30 days is required as well as having a trained replacement is a must. Failure to have a replacement that meets the captains requirements will result in the captain not being promoted.
GENERAL
A General is the leader of their clan. General are directly responsible for the success and growth of their clan. They must hold a weekly clan meetings where they discuss activities, promotions, clan matches, community news and any other information handed down to them. They must also train captains and LT’s to be better leaders and clan members.
A General is responsible for updating their clan group on the website by accepting or denying join requests. They must also maintain a full clan list in their clan’s forums as well as post daily in their clans forums both clan news, information, meeting times, practices, review squad list posted be captains, post in the clan supervisor and clan managers forums any questions, suggestion or ideas and participate throughout the clan forum area as a role model for all clan members.
Generals are expected to make sure all clan members are familiar with the rank structure, rank responsibilities, promotion requirements, and know who the clan leaders are as well as who the staff of crosseyedamer are.
Generals that run clans who compete in clan matches should have their clan setup and be maintaining its team members list on the community site crosseyedarena.com.
A General must use the website as the primary way to communicate with it’s clan members and clan leaders. They should also always spam out clan and community related messages using any other communication devices they use on a daily basis. This may include xbox, PS3, PC chat, instant messaging programs, email text, phone or whatever. Communicating with clan and community members includes also resending and passing on messages sent out by higher clan and community leaders.
As a General you will be asked to meet weekly with Clan and Community Leaders. Your attendance at this meeting is mandatory and not making this meeting could result in your rank and position in the clan being changed. We will work with you when there are emergency situations as well as personal life issues that may arise.
Before a General can be promoted they must build a large successful clan and create the foundation of a second clan. The primary clan must consist of at least 3 active squads with a min. member count of 12 people in each.
The second clan will be created upon approval from the clan managers. Once it is successfully setup and a captain is ready for promotion to General in that new clan the current General may be considered for promotion. The overall time period for a member to remain as General before promotion is typically 3 to 4 months. A Generals promotion will be voted on by his peers after meeting all the above requirements and going through the leadership promotion process which includes an interview and leadership training class.
