Game Review - Halo 3 ODST and a general halo retrospective.
Ah yes, time for the series all the critics have seemingly placed behind golden bars to the point of trying to poke a proverbial stick at it will get you nothing less than a missing arm.
Now while the halo series is Enjoyable it's much too far from good.
Theres a line between the two, believe it or not, I choose to review this game series entirely what it's supposed to be based on - The story.
The story is depressingly short, I found myself finished with the game just under 3 1/2 hours - The linearity of the game was rather exotic - Once you beat a later level you could go back and beat all the levels in pretty much any order. Yes you heard (read) me right, this seems to be a staple in the halo series - That ever bugging ***** - The Difficulty. At times I felt like I was about to toss this game out on it's *** for being so unforgivably hard and times where I was walking through the game not even realizing there were enemies around.
This game tends to have schizophrenic tendencies - Often switching from horror from stupidity - Grunts running around like retarded children screaming in absolute horror.
The game can't decide - It dosent help that you barely can't see 5 feet in front of yourself while in the city exploring mode.
The thing that irks me about halo is that the game can't decide what to do with it's Mattel weapons, The plasma pistol - Once a very powerful weapon turned into one of the most pathetic excuses for a gun I've seen in a while -- What happened? I highly doubt the covenant wanted to downgrade their weapons to keep up with the improving armor of the Marines....And don't even get me started on the pistol - That buggers more confused then Amy Winehouse on ...Well any day...
The halo series has a moderate storyline - Over cliche'd though - Space marines, the almost completely silent protagonist (Often I think he just sounds like a robot when he talks) ODST dosen't bake the cake either - another silent protagonist - Oh buggery.
But back to the story - All three games are rather short and really need a steroid injection of...Fun..
I wont get into the multiplayer because ODST dosen't have it. Firefight is just plain annoying - No matchmaking for it - You need friends - What's the point of playing video games if you need FRIENDS?!
It's rather annoying when they give perfect scores to a game that only is "good" when multiplayer shows up. A game shouldn't need to make up for it's campaign with another mode - The campaign should be as good as the multiplayer.
