      Default These are the OFFICIAL rules of MLG for Halo 3 as of Columbus 2010.

      General Rules

      1. Players may not use a controller with Turbo capabilities, Button Mapping capabilities, or Wireless capabilities, and they may not use a Play and Charge Kit. Controllers with Turbo capabilities allow Players to press a button that results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press the same button multiple times. Controllers with Button Mapping capabilities allow Players to map a button sequence to a specific button. Pressing that button results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press multiple buttons.
      2. Players may not use a controller that has been modified in such a way that it alters their Character’s abilities and/or in-game mechanics. Players may not use a controller that has been modified to include a Turbo button or Button Mapping capabilities. Players are allowed to make cosmetic changes to their controller, however, Major League Gaming reserves the right to deny the use of any controller suspected of providing an unfair competitive advantage.
      3. Players and Coaches may not use a Wireless headset or a headset that requires an outlet for power.
      4. Teams that break General Rules #1-3 will be given a Warning. Each subsequent Warning that a Team receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game.
      5. Players and Coaches may not intentionally manipulate a button, trigger, bumper, D-Pad, and/or joystick on a teammate’s controller while a Game is in progress. Breaking this rule will result in a Forfeit of the Game unless a Team was winning a Team King or Team Oddball Game by more than the time remaining in the Game.
      6. Players and Coaches may not appear on the Main Stage or Feature Station with sponsor insignia that is not approved by MLG or conflicts with MLG sponsors. Players and Coaches may be asked to wear MLG apparel for Main Stage and Feature Station Matches.
      7. Players may use any unoccupied USB ports on their Xbox 360 as well as any unoccupied plug-ins on their Astro Rack and TV.
      8. In the case of an Xbox 360/TV malfunction, the Game will be restarted from the beginning unless a Team was winning a Team King or Team Oddball Game by more than the time remaining in the Game.
      9. No Warm-Up Games may be played outside of scheduled Warm-Up periods.
      10. During Friday and Saturday’s scheduled Warm-Up periods, all Games must be played using the Team Slayer Game Mode.
      11. During Friday and Saturday’s scheduled Warm-Up periods, all Teams must get up at the end of a Game and allow any Teams, who have been waiting, to take their seat.
      13. During Saturday and Sunday’s scheduled Warm-Up periods, Teams that haven’t been eliminated from the Event have priority over other Teams regarding the use of open Stations.
      14. Players and Coaches who break General Rules #9-12 may be given a Foul (See Pro Circuit Conduct Rules).
      15. If a Team fails to report to their Station within 5 minutes of their Match’s announcement, they will Forfeit the 1st Game. 10 minutes after the announcement, a Team will Forfeit the Best of 3 Game Match or the 2nd Game of the Best of 5/7/11 Game Match. 15 minutes after the announcement, a Team will Forfeit the Best of 5, Best of 7, or Best of 11 Game Match. If both Teams Forfeit the Match, the higher seeded Team will win the Match.
      16. Teams may be disqualified or forced to play a Game(s) shorthanded if a Player leaves their Station without their Referee’s permission, or is otherwise unable to play. Referees may set a time limit for a Player who has requested that they be allowed to leave their Station, however, Referees may also deny a Player’s request to leave their Station. Teams may be disqualified, or forced to play a Game(s) shorthanded, if a Player hasn’t returned by the end of their Referee’s set time limit.
      17. Teams are permitted to request a review of the Game film, once during a Match, if they believe that their Referee made an incorrect call related to Gameplay Rules or a Multi Flag Game’s initial time limit. Review requests related to Gameplay Rules must be made during the Game in question, they must be specific to a Player, and they must be limited to a one minute window of the Game’s Film. Review requests, related to a Multi Flag Game’s initial time limit, must be made before the start of a new Game or, if the Match has ended, before the Match results have been submitted. In order to dispute Game results, Players/Teams must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Game. In order to dispute Match results, Players/Teams must notify their Referee that they would like to Protest the Match. Players/Teams must notify their Referee of their intent to Protest a Game before a new Game has begun. Players/Teams must notify their Referee of their intent to Protest a Match before the Match’s Score Sheet has been submitted to the Tournament Director.

      Gameplay

      1. No going outside the normal boundaries of a Map.
      2. No going onto the crane boxes on Amplified.
      3. No going onto the ledges above the lobby on Construct.
      4. No going onto the top center structure on Guardian.
      5. No going onto the high ledge at the sniper tower on Guardian.
      6. No going onto the ledge around the edges of top yellow on Guardian.
      7. No going into the small crack in front of the blue entrance on Guardian.
      8. No taking the oddball onto the tree between bottom yellow and bottom blue on Guardian.
      9. No taking the oddball onto the ledges around the outside of bottom middle on Guardian.
      10. No taking the oddball onto the ledge behind the blue ramp on Guardian.
      11. No taking the oddball onto the ledge facing the elbow on Guardian.
      12. No going onto the carbine towers on Heretic.
      13. No going onto the ledge above the windows and inside the bases on Heretic.
      14. No going onto the high ledges on the outside of the bases on Heretic.
      15. No going onto the high ledges on Narrows.
      16. No going into the attic above the bases on The Pit.
      17. No picking up or holding a flag outside of the normal boundaries of a Map.
      18. No using the Elite Armor Classification.
      19. No quitting out of a Team Slayer Game.
      20. No quitting out of a Multi Flag or Team Oddball Game if Player is the Host/Leader of the Game’s Custom Games Lobby.
      21. No looking at an opposing Player’s TV or projected screen by Players or Coaches.
      22. No placing the oddball out of reach, in an illegal spot or an area where it won’t immediately “Play Ball”.
      23. Breaking any of Gameplay Rules #1-21 will result in a Forfeit of the Game unless a Team was winning a Team King or Team Oddball Game by more than the time remaining in the Game.
      24. Intentionally breaking Gameplay Rule #22 will result in a Forfeit of the Game. Unintentionally breaking Gameplay Rule #22 will result in a Warning. After one Warning, each subsequent Warning that a Team receives will result in a Forfeit of the Game. Players will be considered to have intentionally broken Gameplay Rule #22 if they deliberately throw the oddball into an illegal spot or an area where it won’t immediately “Play Ball” or if they let their Character idle and die above an illegal spot or an area where the oddball won’t immediately “Play Ball.” Teams can’t Forfeit a Game or be given a Warning for Gameplay Rule #22 violations when a Team is winning a Team Oddball Game by more than the time remaining in the Game.
      25. Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game, disqualification from the Event, and ejection from the venue.
      26. If a Team Slayer Game should tie, the Game must be replayed with a 5 minute Time Limit. If a Team King or Team Oddball Game should tie, the Game must be replayed with an 8 minute Time Limit.
      27. Multi Flag Games will have an initial time limit of 15 minutes. If the Game Timer reaches 15:00, one Team is winning, and their flag is in the starting position, the Game is over. If, however, the Game Score is tied when the Game Timer reaches 15:00, the Game must continue and the next Team to score a Point will win the Game (Sudden Death). If Sudden Death reaches the Game’s 30 minute time limit, the Game must be replayed in Sudden Death.
      28. If the Game Timer in a Multi Flag Game reaches 15:00, the difference in Points is one, and the leading Team’s flag is not in the starting position, the Game must continue. If the trailing Team scores a Point and ties the Game before the leading Team is able to return their flag, the Game must continue in Sudden Death. If the leading Team is able to return their flag and maintain their one-Point lead, the Game is over. If the Game’s 30 minute time limit is reached and the leading Team has maintained their one Point lead, the leading Team will win the Game.
      29. Teams are permitted to start Multi Flag, Team King, and Team Oddball Games with three Players. However, Teams with fewer than four Players are not permitted to start a Team Slayer Game and Teams with fewer than three Players are not permitted to start any Games. If a Team doesn’t have the required minimum number of Players to start a Match, they will Forfeit Games based on the timeline set in General Rules #14. If a Team doesn’t have the required minimum number of Players to start a Game, after the previous Game has ended, that Team must Forfeit the Game. Players are not permitted to join Games that are in progress. Players are not permitted to add a Character to a Game for a Player who is absent.
      30. Players who quit out of a Multi Flag, Team King, or Team Oddball Game before it has ended, without Referee’s permission, will leave their Team shorthanded and a Team will Forfeit the Game if all of their Players quit unless a Team was winning a Team King or Team Oddball Game by more than the time remaining in the Game.
      31. The higher seeded Team must play as the Red team and the lower seeded Team must play as the Blue team.
      32. All Host choices must be made before the start of a Match.
      33. If a Game is started without the approval of a Referee it will be restarted.
      34. Teams that incorrectly end a Game, without Referee’s permission, will Forfeit the Game.
      35. Teams that are disqualified prior to the start of a Game will not be allowed to play in the Game. Teams that are disqualified during a Game must quit out of the Game. Teams that are disqualified won’t receive any Rank Points for their ranking in the Event.
      36. Players must use their registered MLG Username during all Games. No Team Name abbreviations are allowed. Players found breaking this rule may be given a Foul (See Pro Circuit Conduct Rules).

      Now you know they dont need to know about headsets and using wired controllers. lol! Since they aren't actually at the event, the controller thing regarding wireless or not doesnt matter. But all other aspects of it do. i.e no modded controllers and such. Headset wise, they dont need to be as cool as us. haha! they can use whatever headset they wish.
