Which do you prefer CEG or CG ?

Well, everyone has either heard me say for about 3 months that some changes are on the way for the website. This past week I mentioned there will be other changes made to our community. One of them is our online identity. I have talked to a few people and because of the split responses and how it effects the community I thought I would throw this out to everyone.

If you had your choice to be CEG Gamertag or CG Gamertag Which would you pick.

Give me your vote and reason as to why you made your choice. This is important for our community so let's give some good feedback.

If we would make a change to CG, it would be going forward for all new members. CEG would always be acceptable. The change itself would be based on the direction of the community itself with is to build a large, strong Gaming Organization.

There are other things to consider with the possible change in letters so it will be carefully planned out.

I'll weight in...from a nonclan member perspective...and a person who is a robust in their posts at the OP.

When looking at teams/clans/communities online while playing games its doesn't matter what the letters are, but that the group is uniform. If you already have an established group of gamers with CEG it would seem futile to change it at this point. It would be wise to keep everything uniform.

I have always been against the idea of clans for the site...or a specific clan that represents the site. Too many things can happen online with gamers that can effect how the site is viewed. In fact if I had not visited the site or know the people behind the site I would think CEG was nothing more then a clan. At least that how it is seen on live. I know the ideas behind the site are to expand past the clan (in fact I think the clan should be eliminated), but as things are seen from an outsider...clans dominate the site and CrossEyed Gamer. Gamers looking for co-op partners, people who have common interest in games, or maybe a group of gamer to matchmake with outside of being recruited into a clan) are going to feel left out and possibly out of place, especially if they have no desire to be apart of the clans or just want to discuss games (which do not happen on the site). I almost feel the clans limit the site an alienate a very large portion of gamers.

Clans were great early on in the existence of xbox live and PSN because you were introducing a new group of gamers into the world of online games (something that had been well established in PC gaming) and most knew very few people to play with, joining a clan instantly gave them a friends list and gamers to play with. Now, more people have a group of established gamers and clans are becoming less and less useful. In believe more and more gamers are turned off by the idea of being part of a clan, but would still like to find people to play games with.

I feel the site would be served better by replacing the concept of a clan/community with an established rank structure to a place where you can just meet other gamers that play common games, exchange Gamertags/PSN IDs and then meet online. It's more relaxed and you would reach a larger audience. Clans seem to restrict the community to Halo or Call of Duty, but I know many gamers who would like a partner for Portal 2, Borderlands, Crysis 2, Homefront, Brink...or one of the other dozen games that sell millions of copies that are not served by 95% of the clans.

It would be hard, but if you could get everyone to move beyond "clan thinking" and use the site to post times they like to game, what games they play, and their gamertag you could find an even larger group of people to play with and not be restricted to only Clan gamers...

lol well good thing about this site is it accomodates all kinds of gamers. if you want to chat or play forum games you can. If you want to exchange gamertags you can(but i see more people using facebook for that) and if you want to apart of a clan you can do that to. Actually I think our clan community is hidden and kept out of the spotlight almost to much. Theres a small forum are for the clans and unless you go to the cegclans.com domain you'd be hardpressed to see anything clan related.

As far as the letters i've always like ceg. It looks better it goes with our name better. Notice how we always spell CrossEyedGamer. Though one benefit to cg is I wouldn't be called "KEG" Scooter yes the are pronouncing it like a keg of beer. lol Also we've begun using CEA as a spinoff for Arena. It fits well as a logo on things like shirt sleeves and avatars and what not. You all know the image i'm talking about.

Anyways im gonna go now before i ramble on like Hylander or Truth. haha

I actually think Hy and Truth are brothers separated at birth.....the words Truth typed I have heard many times by Hy...interesting.

Personally I prefer CEG, soo many people already have the tag and I'd hate for anyone to feel they should change it to stay CURRENT. And I've always been partial to Cross Eyed anything.

I personally am stuck in the middle on this and have not voted yet. We do have a few hundred folks with CEG tags. However, gamers change there tags more often than some people around here change underwear.

Also, due to some other changes the CG may be more appropriate.

I do believe also as Bunny said, anything can be CrossEyed and I am the one that started the spelling as Scooter mentioned, CrossEyedGamer. The CEA actually caught my eye the other day when I saw Illusion using it and it looked good.

At the end of the day Crosseyed is the brand persay and anything we do pertaining to the organization itself would be Crosseyed Something or other.

Would be great to hear what some of our SL's and TL's have to say as well as all other members.

I personally like CEG better, other than it takes away one character from my GT. I think CG sounds more corporate and i hate corporate lol. Damn the man whitey...or whatever color highlander is dying his skin these days hahaha. Anyways, I like the CEG better. Things with odd numbered characters always tend to be more prominent in sense of design. That is usually in a visual sense, but I don't see why it wouldn't carry over to abbreviations. I know its a small change, but seriously don't underestimate the power of odd things.

And now that i think about it a little more, I think I may have seen CG someplace......not is terms of gaming but that abbreviation seems to be familiar

Well here's my opinion and my first post in a while. I feel we should stay as CEG. I feel it just kinda rolls off the tongue better lol. Also i agree with truth when he says we should stay uniform. I feel it would be too much of a hassle to change all the tags.

I voted for CG, only because it will be a great gamertag in the near future. I liked to stick with CEG for now, but until this Gaming Community expands into the great beyond, we can use it. CG should be used for only gamers or people that participate on the website. For me, this tag would be great, so I can easily be defined as a Website guy and not a clan gamer. CEG should be used for clan members and CG should be used for corporate gamers or gamers who don't participate in clan activities. This will be a great asset to our community down the road and I hope we can do this. Two divisions would be great too. CEG for Clans and CG for Website Members. Everyone will still meet good people from the clans and website members, so no division will be excluded out. CEG and CG will be combined, but we can have different squads if we wish. Let's hope this works out or an idea for the future for our community.
